The Student Therapy Access Project (STAP) is actively seeking passionate, community-driven leaders to join our Board of Directors. As we work to bring licensed mental health support into schools, advocate for statewide mental health checkup legislation, and expand our reach beyond Baltimore County, strong leadership is essential.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds who bring passion, expertise, and commitment. Ideal Board Members may include:

Mental health professionals

Educators and school administrators

Community leaders

Legal or policy experts

Finance or fundraising professionals

Business owners or executives

Individuals with nonprofit governance experience

Anyone with a deep passion for youth mental health
No prior board experience is required—we value dedication and willingness to learn.

Board Member Responsibilities
​
Board members agree to:
-
Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person)
-
Participate in at least one committee (Advocacy, Fundraising, Programs, etc.)

Contribute to fundraising or financial sustainability efforts
-
Serve as ambassadors for STAP in the community
-
Provide strategic oversight and vote on key decisions
-
Support recruitment of volunteers, partners, and sponsors
-
Maintain ethical leadership and uphold the organization’s mission

Term Length & Commitment

Board terms are 2 years with the option for renewal
-
Estimated commitment: 4–6 hours per month
-
Participation in special events, fundraisers, or policy activities is encouraged but flexible

Board Application Process
Step 1 — Submit an Application
Tell us about your background, skills, and interest in youth mental health.
Step 2 — Interview
Qualified applicants will be invited to a conversation with the Founder or Board Chair.
Step 3 — Board Review
The board evaluates new applicants based on alignment with mission and needs.
Step 4 — Appointment
Approved members are officially welcomed and onboarded.
